Reflecting on 2024 and Welcoming 2025

A look back at the highs, lows, and lessons of 2024, and setting intentions for the new year ahead.

As we step into 2025, I find myself reflecting on the past year—its challenges, triumphs, and everything in between. 2024 was a year of growth, change, and new beginnings. Here’s a look back at what made it memorable and what I’m looking forward to in the year ahead.

Career: A Milestone

2024 marked a significant milestone for me: 5 years as a developer. It’s hard to believe it’s been so long since I transitioned into this field. I started as an intern at a small WordPress company while working nights at a quirky Pac-Man-themed restaurant (yes, that was a thing!). By mid-2020, I landed my first full-time role as a junior web developer, and I haven’t looked back since.

This career has been incredibly fulfilling, and I’m grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to grow, learn, and contribute. Here’s to another decade of coding!

Coding & Writing: Finding Balance

In 2024, I published a couple of articles, including one on The Power of Authenticity and trying to release another on Building High-Performing Engineering Teams. While I didn’t write as much as I’d hoped, I’ve been focusing more on work-related projects and rediscovering my passion for coding outside of a structured environment.

That said, I’m feeling the itch to write again—not just about tech, but about the things that bring me joy. Topics like weightlifting, gaming, cooking, and music have been on my mind. I’d love to explore these more in 2025 and share my experiences with you.

Life: Change and Growth

2024 was a transformative year personally. Of course, the year wasn’t without its challenges. There were moments of personal trauma and emergencies, but I’m grateful for the support system that helped me through them. Here’s to a more peaceful and stable 2025.

Gaming: A Year of Adventures

2024 was a fantastic year for gaming. I dove deep into Baldur’s Gate 3, logging over 200 hours across two playthroughs. The game is a masterpiece, and I’m already planning another run.

I also discovered a love for roguelikes, spending countless hours on Dead Cells, Slay the Spire, and Vampire Survivors. And let’s not forget the new Prince of Persia game, which beautifully modernized the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night formula I’ve always loved.

Gaming has been a great way to unwind and connect with friends, and I’m excited to explore more classics and new releases in 2025.

The Internet: A Changing Landscape

The internet feels different these days. Gone are the days of stumbling upon quirky personal websites or niche fan pages. Now, it’s dominated by ads, bots, and AI-generated content. While it’s harder to find genuine, human connections online, I still believe in the magic of the web.

This site is my small attempt to bring back some of that old-school charm. I want it to be a place where people can stumble upon something interesting, personal, and real.

Looking Ahead: Intentions for 2025

As I welcome 2025, I’m setting a few intentions for the year:

  1. Write More: Share my thoughts on tech, hobbies, and life.
  2. Explore New Hobbies: Dive deeper into cooking, art, and music.
  3. Stay Consistent: Keep up with my fitness routine and track my progress.
  4. Cherish Relationships: Spend more quality time with loved ones.
  5. Give Back: Contribute to open-source projects and mentor others.

Final Thoughts

2024 was a year of growth, discovery, and new beginnings. While it had its challenges, it was also one of the best years of my life. I’m excited to see what 2025 has in store and to continue sharing my journey with you.

Here’s to a happy, healthy, and fulfilling new year!
